Debs don their dancing shoes

debutante ball at the Grand Star Reception Centre.

Nineteen Kew Residential Services residents donned evening dress
and dancing shoes to attend a special eventa debutante ball.
Stretch limousines chauffeured the elegant debutants to the ball.
Their outfits, make-up and hair reflected hours of work and preparation.
Residents and staff had gone shopping together to choose that perfect
dress or suit for the eagerly-awaited event.
The ball, hosted by the Department of Human Services North
and West Region, was held at the Grand Star Reception Centre in
Altona.
Formalities included a three-course dinner, after which the party-goers
hit the dance floor.
Unit manager Tess Blumhoff, who played a role in organising the
memorable night, said it had been a delight to see the excitement
the occasion had brought to the residents, their families and Kew
staff.
The staff were outstanding in their efforts to help the residents
choose the finishing touchesclassy accessories and hairdosas
well as working to alter dresses and outfits in the hectic weeks
before the event.
