General Practice Divisions Victoria Chief Executive Officer Bill
Newton has received the John Aloizos Medal.
The award recognises an individual who has made an exceptional
contribution to the Divisions Network.
Australian Divisions of General Practice Chair Rob Walters said
Mr Newton had been instrumental in forging collaboration between
primary health care providers to enhance health services to the
Victorian community.
He has led systemic changes in areas such as the Victorian
General Practice Register to help support general practice,
Dr Walters said.
Mr Newton was instrumental in developing General Practice
Divisions Victoria as an organisation seeking to advocate for, promote
and represent all Victorian Divisions.
Since 1992, he has been a constant participant in debates,
consultations and Network meetings at both national and state levels,
always working to support the realisation of a vision about the
Networks potential.
The John Aloizos Medal is named after Dr John Aloizos, inaugural
Chairman of the Australian Divisions of General Practice and one
of the founders of the Divisions movement in Australia.
