Radio you can read

A new mobile phone short message service (SMS) can ‘broadcast’ information to people who are deaf or hard of hearing.

TXT Radio—Radio you can read is a prepaid service covering topics such as deaf community information, news flashes and weather alerts.

It was developed by Melbourne company T-Rex Group in conjunction with the Victorian Council of the Deaf (VCOD).

People who are deaf and hard of hearing are significant SMS users—TXT messaging is an affordable and convenient way for those who cannot hear to communicate with each other and the community.

The prepaid service costs $2 per week.

Profits will help fund VCOD.
