Continence Nurse Consultants Dee Greenwood and Colin Cassells promote the Run or Bust relay to be held as part of Continence Awareness Week.

Five members of the Continence Foundation of Australia will take part in the Run or Bust relay on August 11 to raise awareness about bladder and bowel control problems.

The relay is part of Continence Awareness Week between August 7 and 13.

Activities across the state during the week will encourage people to practise healthy bladder and bowel habits and to seek help if they have a continence problem.

Continence problems are common and not exclusive to older people—one in three women who have had a baby wet themselves and one per cent of adults regularly wet the bed.

Most of these people do not seek help.

Run or Bust will be a 90 kilometre run from Parkville to Rosebud.

There will be information stands at the baton changing points, including Mordialloc, Frankston, Mornington and Rosebud.

The ‘Bush Dunny’ will feature in the relay.

• For more information call the National Continence Helpline on 1800 33 00 66.
