Cause for celebration in Ballarat dialysis unit

Ray Treloar could have been forgiven for thinking it was his birthday when he made a regular visit to Ballarat Base Hospital Dialysis Unit.

It had been his birthday during the week, in fact, but colourful bunches of balloons had been placed because the unit was in a celebration of its own—its first anniversary in its new location.

Mr Treloar has been involved with the Dialysis Unit for more than 11 years.

He received dialysis when the unit was in 1 Windemere Street, when it moved further down the street to the cottage at the back of the hospital and now in the new facility.

Ms Treloar has become one of the favourites with staff on his three visits a week to the Dialysis Unit.

During the past 12 months the Dialysis Unit also has expanded its hours of service.

It now operates from 7a.m. to 9p.m. Mondays to Saturdays.
