Conference promotes health
More than 2,000 delegates are expected to take part in the 18th
World Conference on Health Promotion and Health Education in
Melbourne between April 26 and 30.
They will represent governments, major international organisations
and foundations, community groups, public health organisations and
medical professionals.
The conference is auspiced by the International Union for Health
Promotion and Education (IUHPE), based in Paris.
Support for the conference also comes from the World Health Organisation
and the Australian and Victorian Governments.
President of the International Union for Health Promotion and Education
Professor Maurice Mittelmark of Norway will join UN Special Envoy
on AIDS in Asia Dr Nafis Sadik, former Director of the Centres for
Disease Control and Prevention in the United States Dr Jeff Koplan
and former President of the Tunisian League for Human Rights Dr
Moncef Marzouki as overseas guest speakers at the conference.
The program will comprise plenaries, policy forums, symposiums,
workshops, skill development and discussion sessions, abstract-driven
sessions and formal and informal networking.
It will also include accredited Continuing Education programs for
health educators, nurses and physicians.
Conference sessions will cover the entire range of health promotion
and health education issues.
