Sight-seeing on the Peninsula
Pensioners and Health Care Card holders can now receive low cost
eye care and prescription glasses on the Peninsula.
Previously, people have had to travel into Melbourne to receive
these discounts.
Peninsula Healths Integrated Health Centre in Frankston is
home to the optometry clinic that provides these services.
Optometrist Silvia Goldenberg manages the clinic.
All aspects of visual function are investigated at the clinic,
such as eye health, binocular vision and spectacle prescriptions,
Silvia said.
Contact lens care and services for children are also provided.
If glasses are clinically necessary for eligible patients
they can be provided at a subsidised cost, she said.
People who are eligible to attend the clinic include permanent
residents of the Frankston area who hold a Pensioner Concession
Card or have held a Health Care Card continuously for at least six
months.
The clinic forms part of the services provided by the Victorian
College of Optometry and is supported by the Department of Human
Services.
