Artists invited to submit their work

Victorian mental health service users have been invited to enter the 2004 Mental Health Week Consumer Art Competition.

Entries for the competition can be of various mediums—paintings, drawings, pastels, mosaics and computerised images.

The work must be appropriate for reproduction as an A2 poster—the competition-winning piece of work will become the poster that promotes Mental Health Week.

The winner will receive a prize of $500, a framed copy of the piece—presented at the launch of Mental Health Week in October—and extensive exposure of the work.

A representative from the National Art Gallery of Victoria will judge the competition.

Mental Health Week is a program of the Mental Health Foundation of Australia (Victoria) to promote mental health and wellbeing, prevent mental illness and remove the stigma associated with mental illness.

The Mental Health Foundation of Australia (Victoria) is an association of committed individuals, comprising carers of people with a mental health problem, people with experience of mental health problems, mental health professionals from a broad range of disciplines and people interested in promoting awareness of mental health.

• For entry forms or more information on the Consumer Art Competition or Mental Health Week contact the Mental Health Foundation of Australia (Victoria) on 9427 0406.
